Country singer Naomi Judd passed away on April 30 and her public memorial will be held on Sunday May 15 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. Before celebrating her life, former Dancing With the Stars and Hollywood Squares host Tom Bergeron sent a message to Naomi’s daughters, actress Ashley Judd and singer Wynonny Judd, who will be taking part in season 16 of the launch series.

Bergeron said Naomi Judd was full of “sweet generosity”

I will always remember your mother, @AshleyJudd, for her sweet generosity. In between recording Hollywood Squares, I told her about a family member who, like her, had Hep C. She immediately offered to call her and offer support, which she later did 💔 https://t.co/bl4AEfm9Vk

Bergeron wrote a message after Ashley appeared on Good Morning America where she opened up about her mother’s death and revealed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound she inflicted on herself.

“I will always remember your mother, @AshleyJudd, for her sweet generosity. In between shots of Hollywood Squares, I told her about a family member who, like her, had Hep C. She immediately offered to call her and offer support, which she later did, “Bergeron wrote.

During an interview with ABC’s Diane Sawyer, Ashley said her mother had a “catastrophe” that befell her.

“My mother knew she was seen and heard in agony… and was taken home. Our mother could not fail to be recognized by her peers. This is a catastrophic level of what was going on in it. Because the barrier between the respect she showed her couldn’t penetrate her heart and the lie her illness told her was so convincing, ”said the actress.

Naomi previously spoke to Today about her struggles, recounting the 2017 morning show: “I haven’t got up from the couch in two years. I was so depressed I couldn’t move … My husband (Larry Strickland), my girlfriends and Ashley came up and I just went upstairs and closed my bedroom door … You couldn’t move. “

She added: “We don’t make good enough neurochemicals in the brain. It’s a disease. It has nothing to do with our character … I was dangerously depressed. “

Today also said that she was considering suicide.

“It could be that bad,” she said. “It’s hard to describe. You go into that deep, dark hole of depression and don’t think there’s a minute left. “
