American singer and songwriter Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, better known by his stage name The Weeknd, announced that his world tour would not go as planned and canceled four scheduled concerts in Germany in Hamburg, Cologne, Munich and Berlin. Instead, the Canadian wants to go on tour with the new concept from the summer of 2022.
Corona: The original date had to be postponed
The Berlin concert was originally scheduled for October 29, 2020 and has since been postponed to November 11, 2021, and then to September 24, 2022. The rescheduled concert was canceled. On the website of the Mercedes-Benz Arena there is a note: The concert “The Weeknd at the Mercedes-Benz Arena Berlin unfortunately cannot take place as planned and has been canceled.”
The Weeknd is turning to its fans
The rapper explained on Facebook that the demand for concert tickets for his performances exceeded previously planned possibilities. Therefore, the name of his tour “After Hours” will be extended to “After Hours Until Dawn” and will no longer take place in arenas, but in larger stadiums. The exact dates and venues for stadium concerts in Germany have yet to be determined.
What do ticket holders do?
All purchased indoor concert tickets expire and must be returned. On the organizer’s website it says: “Buyers of tickets are asked to contact the relevant pre-sale offices”.

How to get to the Mercedes-Benz Arena?
The Mercedes-Benz Arena is easily accessible by public transport. In addition to the S-Bahn lines S3, S5, S7, S75 and S9 and the U1 underground, buses 347 and N1 and the M10 and M13 trams also stop at Warschauer Straße station. The train station is directly connected to the Mercedes-Benz Arena by a footbridge. On the west side of the arena there is a multi-storey car park on Helen-Ernst-Strasse.
