Gehrden is applying for EU funding – the working group collects ideas
leanMore money for urban and rural development, climate and culture: with its neighbors Barsinghausen, Wennigsen, Ronnenberg, Springe and Pattensen, the city of Gehrden wants to become a leader in the “Calenberger Land” region. Six municipalities are currently applying for membership of the European Union (EU) for the funding period 2023-2027. One of the conditions for this is the creation of a local working group that, in addition to the six mayors, includes a total of 27 economic and social partners from different social groups. The five inhabitants of Gehrden, representing the city’s interests on Castle Hill, now introduced themselves to a farmhouse in Lenthe.

And this is the plan: Using the regulations and a specially developed evaluation system, the local working group is to control the decision on the allocation of funds from January 2023. “In total, this is just over 3 million euros for all six municipalities for the funding period to 2027,” says Malte Losert. The benefits can be used by, among others non-profit organizations. You can imagine both partial and full financing up to 150,000 euros.
The farmhouse in Lenthe has benefited from funding from ILE
An example of successful financing in the past is the farmhouse in Lenthe. The village has recently benefited from the Integrated Rural Development (ILE) Concept. “Our country house Lenthe, which still needs to celebrate its opening, received 60,000 euros from the previous ILE funding for a total cost of 150,000 euros,” compares Evelyn Lüken. At the time, Lenthe had to demand nationwide funding.
In the Leader region, the sum of EUR 3 million is divided among the six municipalities. “We are not just looking at Gehrden, but at all six locations. And which makes sense here for the future of Calenberger Land, ”continued Lüken. Design ideas for this already exist, also in different locations: from a new usage concept for the voluntary agency Struckmeyersche Mühle and the “Round Table of Culture” to the extension of the cycle route and the biotope network.
