Olper Kultursommer 2022: Thursdays on the market again

Olpe – After two years in a row, the popular series of open-air concerts “Thursdays on the market” could not take place on the market, so the expectation is even greater. Traditionally, the market square in the heart of Olpe once again becomes the big stage for great live music on the four Thursdays of August. “We are delighted to be able to offer a diverse program of different genres again this summer, thus guaranteeing the best entertainment in a beautiful atmosphere. Of course, admission is free, says Klarisa Hoffmann, head of the Municipal Marketing and Culture Office, which has been organizing this event for almost 20 years.

The brass band “Men in Blech” will start the concert with its program “Brasslett” and will ensure a pleasant atmosphere. As the combination of “brass” and “ballet” suggests, there is not only music, but also dance. Eight hot musicians combine rock, funk, pop and classical music with dance styles such as hip-hop, salsa and street dance.

With the band “Beach Boys Revival Band”, one of the best tribute bands in Europe will travel our country and on August 11 will also stop in Olpe, in line with his motto “On the road for many years, not a bit tired”. , the desire to be perfectly imitated and the contagious charisma surely bring the market in Olpe to a boil, especially when the band genuinely presents the Beach Boys greatest hits. Sunny feelings stick to the music when big titles such as “Surfin ‘USA”, “Fun Fun Fun” and ” Good Vibrations ”, encourage the audience to sing together.

A foretaste of the 60s is the perfect transition to the great show on August 18 with “Black Byrds”, which pulled the best music records from the basement and made them a religion. As part of the cultural summer, Olpe celebrates the 1960s as raw – like the 1960s in the smoky clubs on the Reeperbahn. No light shows, no subwoofer, no technical embellishments. Pure, raw garage rock that is fun. The band’s portfolio is impressive, with audiences experiencing the great hits of The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Monkees and The Who as they wander through the 1960s.

The open-air concerts “Thursdays on the market” end with a rock concert by the band “Hörgerät” from Mudersbach. The group has been rocking its “German program” since 2003 and has since become one of the most popular German rock bands. Not a little quieter, not a little quieter – whether it’s a cover or your own songs: passion and feeling are what counts.

The following applies to all four concerts: The Aids-Hilfe Kreis Olpe eV association traditionally manages the roundabout in the upper square. The people responsible for the culture department would like to thank all the supporters and helpers of the volunteers who contribute to the success of the events.

The picnic concert in the city park is always the highlight and has been an integral part of the district city’s cultural program for three years now. “DÉJÀ VU” takes guests on Sunday, August 7 at 4 pm on a journey through the dazzling world of chanson, the history of French pop and jazz. Edith Piaf’s song interpretations, France Gall, Francoise Hardy, Serge Gainsbourg, George Brassens, Charles Aznavour to Alizée and Stereo Total will inspire fans of French culture and go straight to the heart. “You can take picnic blankets, treats and drinks with you this afternoon,” Klarisa Hoffmann invites you to stay.

Under the slogan “Culture in unusual places”, Petra Griese will speak freely, lively and eloquently on Sunday, August 14 at 4 p.m. in the church square of the Church of St. . With her expressive voice, the narrator shapes the written word and takes listeners on a journey to fantastic places and fascinating times as part of a musical picnic of stories. Its rich repertoire draws on old fairy tales and new stories. Petra Griese will be accompanied by the duo Paderborn “Einfach schön” (Andrea Briechle and Flo Krapoth). With nyckelharps, handpan and many unusual sound instruments, these two musicians passionately weave a resonant and atmospheric atmosphere around the story. Traditional melodies from a wide variety of cultures mingle with freely improvised sounds – entertainment that inspires. Tickets for this event are now available for EUR 12 for adults and EUR 6 for pupils and students at the Stadtmarketing & Kultur office on Olper Marktplatz.
