The longing for musical pleasure in a fairy-tale setting will also come true in 2022. Against the background of the New Town Hall, in two evenings we will hear arias and duets from the opera repertoire – with the NDR Radio Philharmonic conducted by Ivan Repušić.

After last year’s great success, Ivan Repušić is looking forward to concerts with the NDR Radio Philharmonic and vocal soloists Adela Zaharia (soprano), Charles Castronovo (tenor) and George Petean (baritone).

Invitation to Maschpark

The city of Hanover invites you to visit the “Opera for All” in Maschpark free of charge. You don’t need pre-registration. Bring your picnic blanket and enjoy a first-class orchestra, world opera stars and a program featuring the most beautiful and famous arias in the opera world. The opera gala will be broadcast on two large screens in the park. Generally there will be no seating. Where the screens and other practical information needed to plan the visit will be, will be announced at a later date.

Soprano: Adela Zaharia

Romanian soprano Adela Zaharia is a “rising star” in the sky of the opera. He is the winner of the Operalia competition in 2017 and has been recognized as a great discovery ever since. In 2020, she sang the part of Lucia Ashton in the premiere of Marina Abramovic’s opera project “The 7 Deaths of Maria Callas” at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. Adela Zaharia is currently a team member at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and has presented her lead role as Donna Anna (Mozart’s “Don Giovanni”) in Amsterdam, Paris and San Francisco this season.

Tenor: Charles Castronovo

Charles Castronovo, son of Sicilian and Ecuadorian parents, was born in New York and grew up in California. He studied at California State University and began his career at the Los Angeles Opera. Tenor was able to take part in the “Lindemann Program” promoting young artists at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, made his opera debut in Pagliacci in the opening of the 1999/2000 season and has since been at home in all major opera houses.

Baritone: George Petean

The baritone George Petean comes from Romania. His international breakthrough came in Rome thanks to Puccini’s “Bohemia”. Petean now makes guest appearances in operas all over Europe; in London he sang under the baton of Placido Domingo at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. His engagement led him to the Hamburg Opera, the Vienna State Opera, the Opera Bastille in Paris, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, ​​the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Zurich Opera and the Bregenz Festival.

Online broadcast, radio and TV broadcast

The Arte Concert shows the Hannover Klassik Open Air on Saturday night as a live video broadcast. This can also be followed on the digital stage of the NDR Radio Philharmonic. TVN records the entire opera gala, the recording can be watched with a delay in 3Sat. NDR Kultur also records and broadcasts an opera gala on a radio program at a later date.
