There is a wide variety of fitness games available on the Nintendo Switch. But which games are really worth it? Four games in the test:

1. “Let’s Get Fit” – for regular training
The latest addition to the Switch’s sports library is to be serious. The idea is simple: different trainers demonstrate the exercises on the screen, and home athletes repeat them. Basically, circuit training works in the same way as a fitness video. First, there are important setting options. Fitness levels and training targets are pre-selected, the four trainers can be swapped and the music turned off. Second, your movements are recorded. In the (recommended) version with sports straps, one Joy-Con is on the left thigh and the other is on the right shoulder. Feedback is motivating but frustrating at times. Unfortunately, the game does not reveal what exactly was done wrong and what was right. Overall, “Let’s Get Fit” requires a certain level of fitness. He imposes a tight pace during exercise. Despite the different levels of fitness, this is not a proposition for people who want to work on the pump again after a long time – other games help better with selection. “Let’s Get Fit” is very suitable for people who want to get started quickly, play sports regularly and challenge themselves.
Available for 40 euros (bundled with sports belts)

2. “Nintendo Switch Sports” – for the joy of movement
In late April, Nintendo launched an alternative to a serious and exhausting training program. Switch Sports may sound exhausting, but most of all it’s colorful fun. Several sports are implemented in the form of mini-games. Incidentally, Switch’s motion controllers prove just how accurately they can detect movements. It is not easy to exhaust sweat in short games with long breaks. But most of all, to lure families off the couch, “Switch Sports” is the perfect serve. Tennis or sword fighting can then turn into a real sport. Bowling and volleyball are limited to light coordination work. Work is only done with the upper body – even a leg strap during a soccer game feels like reflection. However, the easy title still belongs to the sports review. Because the previous game “Wii Sport” also picked people who have to break inhibitions and who also do not like movement. Even grandparents can be won by bowling.
Available for 50 euros (bundled with leg strap)
3. “Ring Fit Adventure” – for a motivating start
Nintendo has also developed a sports game with a sweat guarantee. Ring Fit Adventure is such an age-old favorite that in Korona’s worst times it remained sold out in many regions of the world. It remains the best game in the division – it still offers the most creative mix of home sports and video games. The controller is stuck in the Pilates ring that players are always holding in their hands. The second controller is in the leg strap. The game quite reliably recognizes how the body moves in front of the screen and gives the appropriate feedback. Adventure athletes will have a long fitness role-playing game with turn-based exercises that will become really exhausting. If you just want to train, you can also arrange more sober workouts. But the silly tale of the nasty fitness dragon, Draco, is fun and always provides a good distraction from what’s really going on: exercising in countless repetitions of fitness. The game is quite long and explained in detail, especially when the exercise is announced for the 100th time with graphics and a wait screen. Ring Fit Adventure picks up fitness beginners well, but at one point they get frustrated by the explanation mania.

4. “Just Dance 2022” – for variety and a good mood
The Just Dance series not only proves in a separate sweat mode that dance rhymes with gymnastics. Screen choreographies are danced alone or with friends. If you move correctly, you will get more points. Tracking movement with the Joy-Con alone in your hand isn’t particularly accurate, but it works fairly reliably when the movement is correct. And if you really move your whole body, you will do a tight workout. Songs can be arranged into playlists, which then rush ruthlessly. The choreography ranges from simple rock numbers to complex K-pop attacks that even knowledgeable teenagers have to practice. The selection is a bit small with each title in the series. If you want to stay with us, you can quickly get an annual subscription that offers access to hundreds of songs and dances for 30 euros. “Just Dance” is a hit among children and teenagers; Even adults who don’t like unfettered, silly fun will find endurance training here that also promotes rhythm and coordination.
Available for 35 euros, also for PC and other consoles
And others?
Other sports games on the switch have their place too. Rather complementary to the titles in this selection; they either offer less content or target a very specific audience. A prime example is around “Burn it Zumba!” (40 euro)which competes with 30 courses and 30 songs. If you dance regularly and for longer periods, you will hear the choice pretty quickly. Fitness Boxing 2 (40 euros) is a good title for people who want to box. You can also train your lower body, movement and coordination here, but of course these are less important. Motion detection and track selection could also be better. If you are still looking for a small, really exhausting challenge completely free, download the free one “The jump rope challenge” by Nintendo from the e-shop. Task: jump rope. Then nothing.
