Corona vaccination certificate expires? What should I do?

Many people today are learning that their immunization certificates are about to expire. But that can be extended. It’s a technical expiration date. If you have saved the certificate on your smartphone – for example as a QR code in the Corona-Warn-App or CovPass, you can extend the certificate with just a few clicks in the app. It has nothing to do with whether or not you are still vaccinated.

Corona Exposure Survey: Teacher and Student Exhaustion

Teachers and students continue to suffer greatly from the consequences of the crown pandemic. This is shown by the results of a survey commissioned by the Robert Bosch Foundation. Nine out of ten teachers say their classmates are under heavy or heavy workload. Two-thirds of teachers often feel physically exhausted. Almost 80 percent of teachers work frequently on the weekends. Teachers also see a lot of stress in children and adolescents. 82 percent teachers notice difficulties with concentration, more than every second teacher notices a lack of empathy, and 42% he notices aggressive behavior in his students. “Slightly more than every second teacher believes that they cannot provide enough space for the worries and fears of children and young people,” reads the publication of the German school portal. For the needs of the German School Barometer, Forsa conducted a survey in April 2022 on a representative sample of 1,017 general and vocational school teachers commissioned by the Robert Bosch Foundation.

Lower Saxony Ministry of Health: BA.5 will soon be the dominant omicron subtype

The Lower Saxony Ministry of Health predicts that omicron sub-variant BA.5 will soon be the dominant option. This subtype is even more contagious than all the previous ones and has already caused a rapidly increasing number of cases in South Africa and Portugal. Immunologist Reinhold Förster also assumes that a new corona wave will occur in Germany – before autumn. This is also due to the fact that people are now moving again largely unprotected and without distance from each other.

The medical association warns against further blind data flights

The German Medical Association calls for a better database to continue the fight against the crown pandemic. The president of the Medical Association Reinhardt told the Funke media group that in the past two and a half years someone had experienced a true flight in the dark. It was not a good basis for rational decisions. The load on hospital beds and intensive care units can only be realistically predicted when there is clarity about the actual infection process. According to Reinhardt, the federal government should take the advice of its experts and finally systematically collect and evaluate data on the dynamics of infection, the severity of the disease, and the burden on the healthcare system. Yesterday, the Federal Government’s Council of Experts presented its recommendations on how Germany should prepare for a possible further collapse of the crown. The experts also called for the systematic collection of data and real-time digital picture of the situation of the infection process. Data should continue to be analyzed, processed and assessed in a continuous and systematic manner, with both science and the public having easy and uncomplicated access to the results.

Why are there more new infections appearing in some countries?

The number of new corona virus infections is already rising again in some countries such as Portugal – despite the summer. This is due to new omicron sub-variants such as BA.5, explains science reporter Yasmin Appelhans. It has not yet been finally clarified whether the new variants also resulted in more severe mileage. In Germany, many people have come into contact with the virus through disease or vaccination. However, the virologist Sanda Ciesek claims that infection with the new variant is possible despite previous infection.

Schleswig-Holstein: Incidence increases to 459.9

The incidence of the crown in Schleswig-Holstein increased again compared to the previous week. The number of new infections registered per 100,000 inhabitants over seven days is 459.9 compared to 369.5 a week ago. 5,195 new cases were reported nationwide. According to the reporting office, 214 patients with Covid were still treated in hospitals and 16 patients with the crown were in the intensive care unit – 8 of them were ventilated. Eight other deaths have been reported. The hospitalization rate increased to 2.47. The highest seven-day cases were recorded in the districts of Rendsburg-Eckernförde (626.0), Lübeck (546.2) and Plön (514.9). The Segeberg poviat recorded the lowest incidence with a value of 377.7.

When interpreting the current number of cases, it should be noted that there are fewer studies and reports due to the holidays.

After a break, Corona: Hafentage returns to Stralsund

After a two-year hiatus, the Corona Hafentage are returning to Stralsund today. Until Sunday, visitors can browse the handicrafts, listen to live music, kayak or watch sea rescue exercises at the Parow Marine Engineering School. The city expected a lot of interest in advance – also due to the € 9 ticket for public transport. This year, port days will take place along the Sundpromenade and on the lawn in front of the Hansa-Gymnasium, as Stralsund’s port island is currently undergoing renovation.

RKI reports 651 new infections in Hamburg

According to the RKI, 651 new cases of coronavirus infection have been registered in Hamburg. The seven-day incidence of new infections therefore drops to 265.6 (previous day: 295.3). Experts have assumed for some time that there will be a large number of cases unrecorded by the RKI – because of overworked health authorities and because not all infected people have a PCR test performed. Deaths were not registered.

As the social office in Hamburg stopped publishing crown data daily in early May, the NDR now publishes the updated RKI data daily in its crown information bar. The health office of the Hanseatic city provides updated information on the seven-day incidence and the use of the hospital only once a week – on Tuesdays. These data and values may deviate from the RKI data.

The incidence in Lower Saxony is 371.9

In According to the Robert Koch Institute, 11,059 new infections have been registered in Lower Saxony. The seven-day incidence, ie the countrywide number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants, is 371.9 today (previous day: 313.8). On Tuesday the reading was 262.8. Twelve people died with the virus in their bodies.

When interpreting the current number of cases, it should be noted that there are fewer studies and reports due to the holidays.

5:35 a.m.

RKI: 77,636 new corona infections nationwide

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) rated the nationwide seven-day prevalence at 276.9 this morning. The day before, the value of new infections per 100 thousand. inhabitants and the week was 238.1 (previous week: 221.4). However, the incidence does not give the complete picture of the infection situation. Experts have assumed for some time that there will be a large number of unregistered cases – mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test performed. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. Health authorities in Germany recently reported 77,636 new corona infections (previous week: 48,502) in one day and 90 deaths (previous week: 131) to the RKI. Again, data comparisons are only possible to a limited extent due to test behavior, late registrations or transmission problems.
