The new Work Campus FLOW in Hamburg is becoming a reality: with the main tenant of Sysmex Europe and the second mayor Katharina Fegebank, the MATRIX Group and Bayerische Hausbau started work today. In a joint venture, the companies are developing approximately 23,600 m² of new working environments on Deelböge in the Alsterdorf district. Sysmex Corporation, an international manufacturer and supplier of innovative laboratory diagnostic analyzers and services, will move its EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) headquarters to one of two new buildings.
Katharina Fegebank, Deputy Mayor and Senator for Science, Research, Gender Equality and Neighborhoods: “I am delighted with this construction project as Sysmex Europe SE will not only be the headquarters of an innovative company in the medical sector, but also a campus for the work of the future. This is good for the North Quarter and Hamburg as a business location. ”
FLOW is characterized by an intelligent concept for designing the jobs of tomorrow. This includes flexibly usable workplaces, a smart building app, a parcel locker and a mobility concept with car sharing, and plenty of bicycle parking.
The “Third Place” is made up of attractive, high-quality courtyards that blend in with the green surroundings of Alster and Tarpenbek. The facades of the buildings were designed with clinker and characteristic planted elements. The most modern construction technology, accessible green roofs, protection of the tree population and two biotopes emphasize the fully ecological and sustainable nature of the project. The Hamburg architectural firm Tchoban Voss is responsible for planning the project.
Dr. Udo Franz, Deputy Head of the Hamburg-Nord District Office:
“FLOW is New Work’s flagship project. The attractive architecture combines sustainable construction technology, green roofs and green facades with an innovative room concept. During development, great importance was attached to the concept of the office promoting communication and creativity among employees, and digital technologies to simplify and accelerate working methods. The area is optimally connected with public transport and very green. We are very pleased that the MATRIX Group and Bayerische Hausbau have decided to develop the project in our district. ”
Martin E. Schaer, Managing Partner of the MATRIX Group:
“Thanks to FLOW, we make the idea of New Work a reality in an urban but green place. Our goal is to set standards for the development of new work environments. The focus is on the person. Anyone who will be working on our campus in the future should do so in a place where they can be productive and creative, feel comfortable, relax during breaks, and enjoy sitting even after work. A place with smooth transitions from work to leisure, a place in FLOW. ”
Christian Balletshofer, managing director of Bayerische Hausbau:
“We are pleased that our joint project FLOW is now entering the implementation phase with a breakthrough and is taking shape. Thanks to New Work Campus, we build sustainable office spaces with a high degree of digitization. FLOW offers space for the innovation and work of tomorrow – thanks to a flexible room design with intelligent building elements and a mobility concept adapted to the starting location. In addition, we create places for rest, rest and creative exchange with lots of greenery. Work, live, relax, it’s all possible at FLOW. ”
Sysmex Corporation is an international manufacturer and supplier of innovative laboratory diagnostic analyzers and services. At the beginning of 2025, the central organization Sysmex Europe SE will open together with the subsidiary Sysmex Deutschland GmbH, which is responsible for the German market, Sysmex Inostics GmbH – a specialist in the field of personalized diagnostics in oncology – and the Sysmex R&D Center Europe GmbH New Work Campus with state-of-the-art offices and laboratories in Deelböge, Hamburg.
Alain Baverel, President and CEO of Sysmex Europe SE:
“This move is a clear commitment to Hamburg as a business and technology location and a visible sign of Sysmex’s sustained and steady growth in the EMEA region. We are delighted to be able to offer our employees and new talent a modern and inspiring working environment in the center of the Hanseatic city. ”
MATRIX and Bayerische Hausbau have also started to let the remaining 11,300 m². The concept of flexible space allows both individual rental and occupancy by several tenants. The goal is to use applications that support and enrich the nature of the campus. BNP Paribas Real Estate GmbH and CBRE GmbH were mandated as Principal Broker.
The Hamburg-based MATRIX Group and Bayerische Hausbau submitted a planning application in the fall for the development of FLOW on a 12,600 m² commercial property on the banks of the Alster River. The campus is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024.
