Tried: The new multi-beach property at TSV Horst is a lot of fun
Horst.A light breeze, the sun is shining and sand as far as the eye can see. However, in the new multi-beach facility, there is no place to relax in the sun: beach volleyball and badminton balls fly over the net, and rugby balls boldly struggle on the beach soccer field.

Beach volleyball instead of tennis
TSV Horst has made a long-awaited dream come true with a new multi-beach facility. The first designs were available as early as 2011, but were initially rejected due to proximity to houses regulations. From 2017, the plans became more specific again. From October to November 2021, two tennis courts were converted into today’s multi-purpose facility for 38,000 euros. For this purpose, 1,000 tons of sand were spread over 1,300 square meters. Now a new lounge for beach sports fans has been officially opened.

Fair but physical: beach rugby
It is not a sport for the vulnerable: beach rugby involves pulling, pushing and wrestling until the player in possession of the ball loses the ball or lands on the ground. After all, falling to the ground through the sand hardly hurts. Even so, I still find myself wanting to pass the ball to my teammates as quickly as possible. In sports, it is important to take a few meters with the ball. Because you can only go backwards.
However, beach rugby was only on the agenda at the opening ceremony. Otherwise, you should play beach soccer, or soccer, on large, sandy terrain. According to deputy head of the soccer department, Torsten Wille, the first tournament is already planned. Then hopefully with a team from the seriously decimated TSV Horst football first selection.

The wind hinders the badminton on the beach
What is otherwise played indoors or as a popular leisure activity in the park also works in the sand: badminton on the beach. If it wasn’t for the wind. To keep the tennis-like sport going, badminton players brought their speedminton equipment with them. Nevertheless: Due to the wind, the little aileron suddenly stops in the air again and again. But we approach it with humor and have a great time in the sun-warmed sand.

Nevertheless, the new multi-beach facility was also eagerly awaited by the badminton section. Due to the occupancy of the room, regular training sessions can only be started at 21:00. If the wind conditions are right, you can go outside earlier in summer.

Difficult to calculate: wind drops badminton without warning.

In beach volleyball, the kicking continues
The excavators actually left the facility after completion of construction a few weeks ago. But beach volleyball is all about one thing: kicking. Because unlike indoor volleyball, you can almost always play with joined fists. And it is not that simple: the ball, after touching the ball, flies out of the field in an uncontrolled way. In the end, me and my brave game partner lost without a problem at 6:15. It was fun anyway.
TSV amateurs, on the other hand, feel at home on the new pitch. Even before the official opening, the association organized a beach volleyball camp. The residents of Garbsen managed to make a real coup d’état: volleyball player Anna-Lena Grüne, who recently started playing together with Olympic champion Kira Walkenhorst, accompanied the camp as a coach.
