Thor 4 is set to be the shortest MCU movie since 2018

Soon Chris Hemsworth will return as the thunder god Thor in another Marvel movie, Thor: Love and Thunder. And it should be quite short.

With “Thor: Love and Thunder” fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) can look forward to July 6, 2022 probably the most refreshing Marvel adventure of recent times. At least that’s what the trailers published so far suggest: Thor (Chris Hemsworth), who looks like he has washed his hair with the gods shampoo and who dresses as if he was on a world tour with Tenacious D. a tired warrior wanders in search of himself. One would like Christian Bale’s Gorr Killer of Gods to be simply cut out so as not to spoil this peaceful moment.

But movie fans just want to have fun; for everything else there are cat videos. And you’ll probably have time for them very soon after you go to the movies, if the information is correct. Because as the big US cinema chain AMC and UK film company Cineworld (via Comicbook.com) agree, “Thor: Love and Thunder” should be quite short. And exactly:

– 119 minutes –

That would be four minutes longer than originally stated, but it’s still pretty damn short by the latest MCU standards. With this, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” with its 126 minutes already triggered the trend back to moderate running times. It seems like the times of Marvel movies with huge runtimes of 150 minutes and more are over, because Thor: Love and Thunder would be the shortest MCU movie since Ant-Man and the Wasp with 119 minutes from 2018 (118 minutes). In fact, there are only five movies in the MCU that would be shorter: the first two thunder god movies, “Thor” (115 minutes) and “Thor: The Dark Kingdom” (112 minutes), as well as “The Incredible Hulk” (112 minutes). ), “Ant-Man” (117 minutes) and “Doctor Strange” (115 minutes).

And let’s be honest, the duration says nothing about the quality of the movie. On the contrary, sometimes filmmakers with short duration only prove that they are able to tell a focused story without getting bogged down by too many curiosities. And there was a time when a working time of around 90 minutes was considered a good average. 120 minutes? It was almost epic. And while Thor: Love and Thunder is really that “short”, it looks like a lot of fun, right? Check out the trailer again.

Thor: Love and Thunder is full of superstars

Thor: Love and Thunder is reportedly very different from previous Chris Hemsworth movies. Director Taika Waititi wanted to breathe new life into the series. After all, this is the first-fourth installment of the solo movie series in the MCU. As Entertainment Weekly said:

“It’s actually a film about a midlife crisis. It’s the question we all ask ourselves: are we doing the right thing and are we doing our best in the world? I think now that the world is still recovering from this pandemic, it is worth asking this question. The point is, do we do enough to care for each other and protect each other. “

And there’s one more thing you can be sure about Taika Waititi’s second Marvel movie: Thor: Love and Thunder is full of stars. Along with Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster aka Mighty Thor, there is a reunion with Jamie Alexander as Sif, Tessa Thompson as Vakyrie, a whole team of Guardians (Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel ) and even Sam Neill, Matt Damon, and Luke Hemsworth as theater actors. The newcomers include Christian Bale as Gorr the Godslayer, Russell Crowe as Zeus and Melissa McCarthy.
