Netrace is a kind of rally over the Internet. In four rounds, participating student teams must demonstrate research skills by correctly answering questions. It is important to distinguish reputable from dubious sources. The questions get more and more difficult with each round.
Surprised winners: the RBZ Wirtschaft team in Kiel is the winner
Manuel Schetter and Finn Naschinksy were at the award ceremony for the winning team from RBZ. It’s no coincidence that they solved the tasks as quickly as possible: “We only had two hours to complete the round,” says Schetter. But she was totally surprised at how well she did. The secret to success is probably effective teamwork. “We always created a document that anyone could access,” Naschinsky explains. After that, everyone worked on the task on their own.

Lilli Nielsen’s School with a New Record
This year, the ranking was tight: all the top six places scored full points, so the time it took for the groups to solve the problem was a pain. The second fastest was the team “Besserwissis2.0” from the Lillie Nielsen school in Kiel. “It was really a surprise,” Nisreen Cheikho said cheerfully. At the awards ceremony, she and her classmates got more and more excited as the seats were announced. The teacher Anja Blenckner was also enthusiastic about her students’ performances. The school has participated in Netrace from the very beginning, but second place is the best performance – “mainly because we’re a support center.” The money now goes to the Miniature Wonderland in Hamburg.

Minister praises Netrace: “Creative transfer of competences”
Patron and Minister of Education Karin Prien spoke at the video awards ceremony: “The Netrace is a particularly successful example of the creative transfer of media skills. The media is especially important in schools. “
Kerstin Reisen and Carina Lennartz from Pro Media Maaßen were delighted with the large number of participants, more than 1,500 students in more than 200 teams. However, they made one change for next year: “Teachers shouldn’t come up with team names anymore,” says Lennartz. They’re just too boring. This year, the group of “vueszyck” (speak like physics) took 7th place and “Grube cassettes” – 5th among the creative names of students.
