CABOT EXPANDS ITS PORTFOLIO OF WORLD GOLF DESTINATIONS WITH CASTLE STUART IN SCOTLAND

TORONTO, June 1 / PRNewswire / –

A recognized Canadian developer announces the first European project

Cabot, developer and operator of general-purpose golf complexes, announces the acquisition of Castle Stuart in the Scottish Highlands. At the heart of this iconic estate, which will soon be known as Cabot Highlands, is Castle Stuart Golf Links, ranked among the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World by Golf Digest and Golf Magazine. Like all Cabot properties, Cabot Highlands will offer stunning surroundings, a world-class golf course, exciting real estate opportunities and exceptional service.

“Stuart Castle has become a benchmark for unique Scottish golf since it opened thirteen years ago. We are honored to be able to manage the land and continue the original vision of this property, ”said Ben Cowan-Dewar, Cabot CEO and co-founder. “Our goal is to create unforgettable memories in magical places, and there are few places in the world more inspiring than the Scottish Highlands.”

Just five minutes from Inverness Airport and a short drive from some of the most famous golf courses in the region, including Royal Dornoch, Nairn, Brora and Skibo Castle, Castle Stuart is part of the extensive golfing offer in the Scottish Highlands. The route follows the Moray Firth and offers panoramic views and famous landmarks such as the Kessock Bridge and Chanonry Lighthouse. Designed by the late Mark Parsinen and Gil Hanse, the rugged natural surroundings of Stuart Castle can be described as a return to golfing from the past. The field contains holes bordered by water on one side and cliffs on the other, with the rough contours of the fairway and endlessly shaped greens that seem to rise up on the cliffs just above the sea. There is also an Art Deco-inspired club, exercise area and putting green. The new short course may already be in use and is scheduled to open in the 2023 season.

Cabot plans to build a second golf course designed by renowned golf architect Tom Doak. The course is set on a pristine piece of land and is laid out around the 400-year-old Castle Stuart. The route will have natural contours, winding through the slopes of the hills and a wide open space, and will have several openings along the water. Planning of the course will start in fall 2022 with construction expected to start in 2023 with an opening in 2024.

“I’m excited to be working with Ben Cowan-Dewar and the Cabot team,” said Tom Doak, architect. “We have been looking for the perfect destination for years. Our goal is to create a distinctive Scottish golf experience that will appeal to players of all skill levels, with an authentic link style golf course that puts the golf holes at the fore.

Properties will be an important part of the community, and sales are slated to start in 2023. The old mansion will offer bungalows with a sophisticated contemporary twist, inspired by the captivating Scottish countryside. When homeowners are not present, their homes are available as luxury guest accommodation. The Cabot Highlands building will house retail stores, restaurants and community gatherings. In addition to golf, the place offers amazing natural beauty and numerous outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, fishing, falconry, horse riding and much more. The nearby town of Inverness is just ten minutes away and offers the opportunity to experience vibrant Scottish culture with Victorian-era markets, cathedrals, museums and restaurants. The Inverness area also has some of Scotland’s finest whiskey distilleries, many of which offer tours and tastings throughout the year.

“I couldn’t think of a better partner than Cabot to guide our next chapter. The work done at Cabot Cape Breton on the golf courses and in the community speaks for itself and I know that our beloved Founder, Mark Parsinen, be proud of the plans that lie ahead to realize our original vision for this destination, “said Stuart McColm, Director general of Stuart Castle and the future Cabot Highlands. “This is not only important news for golf, but also an important boost to the regional economy in the Highlands.”

Cabot Highlands is the perfect complement to a growing portfolio of Cabot luxury homes surrounded by world-class golf courses. The collection includes the award-winning Cabot Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Cabot Saint Lucia, set to open in early 2023, and Cabot Revelstoke, which is under construction in British Columbia. Cabot recently announced the acquisition of its first American real estate in Florida, which will soon be known as Cabot Citrus Farms. Each Cabot property is based on a sense of location and the philosophy that truly stunning landscapes will stand the test of time. The area of the Cabot estate dictates how the fairways are laid, where the greenery is and how the houses are to live in harmony among the unspoiled nature.
