Every drop of grape juice used in the production of MARTINI vermouths and sparkling wines, including MARTINI Fiero and the new MARTINI Aperitivo alcohol-free line, now comes from vineyards certified to the Equalitas standard, the most comprehensive sustainability standard in Italian wineries.

After that, the BACARD chick®-Rum and 10 botanicals for BOMBAY SAPPHIRE® This news is 100% sourced sustainably, another important step towards Bacardi’s 2025 goal of sourcing 100% of its key ingredients from sustainably certified suppliers.

MARTINI, which will celebrate its 160th anniversary next year, has long been a pioneer in the field of environmental protection. In 1987, L’Osservatorio MARTINI – the MARTINI Observatory – was founded in Northern Italy to promote sustainable agricultural practices, first for wines and more recently for the many botanical ingredients used to create the legendary vermouths and non-alcoholic aperitifs.

“Achieving such a milestone requires many years and a lot of commitment,” says MARTINI Master Blender Beppe Musso. “We have been caring for the environment, our suppliers and their environment for generations. This certification from Equalitas recognizes the value of these relationships and the value of being at the forefront of sustainable practices. ”

Stefano Stefanucci, director of Equalitas, said: “The level that MARTINI has achieved is the first in the Italian wine industry. The Equalitas certification process is rigorous and doesn’t take place overnight. That MARTINI has obtained this certification for 100% of its vineyards is therefore something extraordinary. ”

Equalitas only works with external auditors who are experts with deep knowledge of the wine sector and the certification process is holistic. Equalitas covers the three pillars of sustainability – environmental, ethical and economic – and covers everything from the vineyard’s carbon footprint and water use to fair business conditions for farmers and good social practices, including education and social care.

Victoria Morris, Global VP MARTINI, added: “The care we take in sourcing each ingredient is evident in the quality and taste of each MARTINI drop. This applies to both our classic vermouth and sparkling wines as well as our latest innovation, the wonderful non-alcoholic MARTINI Aperitivo line. We look forward to celebrating the 160th anniversary of this iconic brand in style! ”
