The ruling mayor of Berlin, Franziska Giffey, will visit Paris, a twin city of Berlin, on July 12-14, 2022. Franziska Giffey, Mayor of Berlin: “Paris and Berlin share our peaceful and friendly partnership that has developed over generations after the Second World War. Especially nowadays, our two countries and our two capitals represent a free, democratic, constitutional and peaceful Europe. As the economic centers of our countries, we work together to ensure security and prosperity and to guarantee the jobs of the future. We share the goal of making our metropolises more climate-friendly through innovation and progress. Thank you for supporting the Berlin economy in achieving these goals, which are important to all of us. As the President of the Management Board, I support Berlin entrepreneurs in establishing and maintaining our international contacts and connections in the interest of our city. ”

Sebastian Stietzel, President of the Management Board IHK Berlin: “Together with the ruling mayor and senator for economic affairs, our business delegation would like to use the visit to Paris to improve cooperation between major cities and companies. In the face of global challenges and shocks, Berlin companies are open to new business and technological partnerships with our international partners. The transformation of the metropolitan region of Paris shows us innovative solutions, for example with the “city of 15 minutes”, revitalization of downtown cities with commercialism or in the Smart City area. Berlin companies want to offer solutions for sustainable cities in the capital of Berlin – from climate protection through intelligent infrastructure to digitization. In Paris, we will showcase the diverse competences and strengths of our Berlin economy and bring impulses from Paris to accelerate Berlin’s sustainable transformation. The dynamic economic metropolis of Paris is an ideal place for us to position Berlin as a modern business location and to initiate new business cooperation between the two partner cities ”.

Stephan Schwarz, Senator for Economy, Energy and Public Enterprises: “France and its capital Paris have been part of Berlin companies for decades United States and China among the most important economic partners. Especially in the area of start-ups, there are many cooperation opportunities for the two most important start-up cities in the European Union. The far-reaching transformation of the economy is also one of the most important tasks that we must perform on the Spree and Seine. I am deeply convinced that the more we want to learn from each other and shape the future together, the better we will be able to do it. I therefore see this visit as a prelude to further strengthening and deepening the cooperation between our business and innovation locations, and I would like to extend this cooperation so that it becomes a pillar of our town partnership. As a Berliner for whom Paris was once his second hometown, this is also a matter close to my heart ”.

Dr. Stefan Franzke, Managing Director of Berlin Business and Technology Partner: “We know Paris well, the founders and the location of the company – as a member of our startup alliance, as a discussion partner who can learn a lot from each other, and as a strong competitor for the brightest minds and the best ideas. I look forward to the journey and many exciting meetings with friends and new faces. ”
