One-day trips with children that make everyone happy

Anyone who does not travel during the holidays or has only a few days off with (grandchildren) is wondering: what are we going to do today? The choice is so great that it’s hard to decide. Visit a new museum? Or try to fly yourself? Everything works correctly.

What else is, where you can really experience something in and around Berlin, we’ll tell you here and now. In the first part of our holiday tips, we’ve already introduced Babelsberg Film Park, Pinguintherme in the Spreewald, dinosaur viewing in Germendorf and Karl’s strawberry farm.

Western city of El Dorado

The western town of Eldorado near Templin (Uckermark), about 70 kilometers north of Berlin, has been captivating families for 16 years. It’s like traveling to another world: there’s a lounge, a horse and wagon, a wagon and a stagecoach, western-style shops, and even a bank, a chapel and a cemetery. Also gold panning, pony rides, archery and horseshoes.

Of course, there are also playgrounds, a mini zoo, bull riding, ax throwing, a poster printing house and you can explore the gold and gem mine with a shovel and metal detector.

By the way: if you come in authentic clothes, for example as a cowboy, you have free admission. There is a great offer for everyone else on the site: you can find suitable clothing in the store and have it made by a professional. It’s fun and it looks super cool when you go to the photo studio later to take souvenir photos that look historic.

There are four live shows each day, the first at 11:00 AM and the last at 5:15 PM. A bank robbery is staged, followed by a duel of children on Main Street. The first program of the day will be presented by Maria and Kendall Old Elk from the Apsaalooke tribe (Montana / USA). At 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., there are two stunt shows. Stunt workshops for children are held on Sundays at 1:00 p.m.

Tip: bring a bathing suit! El Dorado is located directly on the Röddelinsee and has its own pier. You can jump directly into the lake, there is a sunbathing and bathing platform. You can also spend the night in the western part of the city (double hotel 125 euros per night; coachman’s residence 165 euros, ranch 155 euros).

Am Röddelinsee 1, 17268 Templin. Admission costs 16 euros for adults (13 euros online), a family ticket costs 59 euros (55 euros online). Parking costs 2 euros a day. From July 13 to August 21, the Western City is open daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. If you wish to arrive on a different day, please check the opening hours on the home page. There are also closing days.

The Eberswalde family garden

The first attraction awaits right at the entrance: a kind of marble track made of concrete, slightly sloping, making the marbles, marbles and marbles roll over and rush downhill. You can buy small plastic balls (50 cents) on the spot, but they are usually too light. If you have a golf or tennis ball at home, take it with you.

A few meters away you can rent a pedalo and ride through the catacomb tunnel system. Good thing there are helmets, otherwise you’d probably really hit your head. It’s a real adventure, especially since getting around by pedal boat is not as easy as it sounds.

And then: Rent the family Kettcar (four seats) and explore the 17 hectare family garden on wheels. Your kids will love it, but at the latest they will jump out of the car on the large water playground with adjacent giant water slides. Here’s a tip: make sure you have a towel and a change of clothes.

Next to the snack bar in the middle of the park there are plush ponies and unicorns of various sizes that you can ride on. When the child rides on it, it activates the rolling mechanism and drives away. However, it costs more.

In the rear part of the park there are many huts and playgrounds in the so-called fairy-tale forest, including a witch’s house with light effects, a completely darkened maze, plus slides and various climbing equipment.

Am Alten Walzwerk 1, 16227 Eberswalde. There are only a few parking spaces directly on site, but a large car park is a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Do not park in nearby supermarkets; will be towed. If you wish, you can also travel by kayak or boat along the Finow Canal – the family garden has its own jetty. Opening hours: daily from 10:00 to 18:00 Admission costs 4 euros for adults and 2 euros for children and children.

Park Holland

Only recently opened and already so willingly visited that sometimes you have to look for a parking space: Holland Park in Schwanebeck (Barnim) has become a family magnet in a very short time. Even if it’s not over yet.

The playground that extends behind the large center is beautifully landscaped and leaves nothing to be desired. Among other things, there is a wooden caravan on stilts, on which children have to climb on a rope ladder or a wooden platform. As a reward, the slide leads down again.

About the slides: take some change with you, because the impressive 21-meter tower with six different slides costs 5 euros (no time limit). Visiting the outdoor playground and the zoo (including alpacas) is free.

Inside there is a climbing gym with 45 different options and a huge indoor playground (important: stopper socks!). Tickets and prices vary; For example, a four-hour ticket to the Fun Paradise costs € 10.50 for adults, € 5.50 for toddlers and € 15.50 for children aged 3 to 17.

Children pay € 16.50 a weekend or € 15.50 a week for 90 minutes of climbing fun. From 4:30 pm, it only costs ten euros. Companions wishing only to watch and not climb alone are allowed to enter for free. The last entry is at 5:30 pm.

Soon a huge mill will open outside, as well as escape rooms and a laser game, as well as a building block paradise with XXL fixing stones. In the meantime, you can also stroll through the tempting gift shop or find inspiration in the extensive garden center. Anyone who doesn’t buy anything here deserves respect.

Dorfstrasse 30, 16341 Panketal OT Schwanebeck. There are enough parking spaces, parking is free. Opening hours: Play hall and climbing hall daily from 11:00 to 19:00, on weekends and public holidays from 9:00 to 19:00. The outdoor playground can be used during the opening hours of the market and the garden center (daily from 9:00 to 19:00).

Tropical islands

“South Sea, sandy beach, palm trees – only 60 km from Berlin,” Tropical Islands advertises on its website. And the photos really invite you to dream about a vacation somewhere far away, where the sea is azure, the sky is clear, the sand is powdery and the breeze is soothing. Where you curl up in a hammock, napping gently … and worrying about how expensive all the fun is. Not to mention climate-friendly flying.

Now a visit to Tropical Islands is not cheap, but you get a pretty good deal. Well, it’s not a salty sea and it’s not always as cozy and warm as in the Caribbean. Given this, the illusion is very close to being perfect. In addition to splashing and building sand castles, there are thrilling water slides, a mini golf course and a basketball balloon that overlook the entire resort from 15 meters above the ground.

While walking through the inner rainforest, you can discover turtles, flamingos and pheasants. In addition, there is a butterfly house. If you are looking for more activities, we recommend the Whitewater River, a lazy river that is 250 meters long (from 8 years old). And when you get wet, you can try your hand at various virtual games on Treasure Island. Flashes, beeps, and wobbles. For children, there are mini-safaris where they travel by jeep and have to track down animals for which they are issued stamps. Eventually, the child becomes the guardian of wildlife.

A one-day trip to Tropical Islands can easily be turned into a two-day trip, because overnight is not a problem here. Tents in the middle of a palm tree landscape? A holiday home with its own jacuzzi? Camping in a tipi? Everything is possible, the choice is huge. Prices must be calculated individually. You pay about 130 euros for an overnight stay in a safari tent in the middle of the tropical hall.

Tropical Islands-Allee 1, 15910 Krausnick. Opening hours: daily from 8:00 to 23:30, for guests staying overnight 24 hours a day. An online day ticket for families costs 145 euros, there are also various special offers that may be cheaper.
