After 20 years, this is the end: in 2023, the last season of “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” will appear on TV screens. These talents have made a breakthrough with a talent show.

RTL interrupts the casting program “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”. “After two very successful decades, we will be celebrating the show for the last time,” explains RTL entertainment director Markus Küttner. Sometimes a break would be needed, emphasizes Küttner. But before that, the talents of tomorrow may hope to be the last time to a career that other stars have had.

Alexander Klaws (38) was the first ever winner of the DSDS. He won the talent show in 2003 at the age of 20. His winning song “Take Me Tonight” is named after former jury veteran Dieter Bohlen (68). Today, the former casting star is successful as an actor, singer and music performer. He was a great success with the musicals “Tanz der Vampire”, “Tarzan” and “Ghost – Das Musical”. For two years he played the lead role in the soap opera Sat.1 “Anna und die Liebe”. He also won “Let’s Dance” and the triumph of “The Masked Singer” in 2021. In April of this year, he appeared in the RTL live musical as Jesus Christ in Die Passion. Klaws also found happiness in his private life: during rehearsals for the musical “Tarzan” he met his current wife Nadja Scheiwiller (36). The couple have two sons together. After 2019, Klaws plays the lead role of Winnetou for the second time at Karl May Games in Bad Segeberg.

Anna Maria Zimmerman

For Annie-Marii Zimmermann (33), the victory in 2005 was not enough, but the sixth place did not prevent her from pursuing a career in music. Since 2007, she has released singles such as “1000 Dreams Far (Tornerò)” and performed at nightclubs in Mallorca. In 2010, her debut album “Einfach Anna!” Was released. The release was overshadowed by a helicopter accident involving a pop singer. She was paralyzed in her left arm. Anna-Maria Zimmermann did not give up and returned to the stage in 2011. Since then, she has released five more studio albums and various singles such as “100,000 Shining Stars” and “Himmelblaue Augen”.

Pietro Lombardi

Pietro Lombardi (30) is one of the most successful “DSDS” winners of all time. More than ten years after his victory in 2011, the 30-year-old is still very popular. In 2020, the artist released his third studio album “Lombardi”. It stayed at number two in the German charts for the entire 20 weeks. He also sat on the 16th and 17th seasons of “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” as a juror alongside Dieter Bohlen, who also wrote many songs for the singer. In March 2022, he released his new single “I don’t let you go” and entered the top twenty charts. Currently, photography is also underway for Pietro Lombardi’s own show: The singer is looking for a talent for singing. The winner receives a recording contract with the newly founded label.

Sarah Engels

During their participation in “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” in 2011, Sarah Engels (29) and winner Pietro were considered a dream couple. The runner-up and winner got married in 2013. Two years later their son Alessio (6) was born. The couple divorced in 2019. But not only in private, a lot has happened in Sarah Lombardi’s life since her participation in DSDS. The singer has proven her fighting spirit in many TV formats, such as “Das Große Promibacken”, “Dancing on Ice” and in 2020 as a skeleton in “The Masked Singer”. Lombardi also won in each of these formats. It seems that the 29-year-old has found happiness in her private life: since May 2021, she is married to football player Julian Engels (28), née Büscher. The couple became their daughter’s parents in December of the same year.

Anna Carina Woitschack

In addition to Sarah Engels and Pietro Lombardi, the puppeteer Anna-Carina Woitschack (29) also took part in DSDS in 2011. After eighth place, she started as a solo artist. Her single “I want this summer” remained on the charts for over ten weeks in 2013. She celebrated even greater success with the single “Stark wie Zwei”, which she recorded with Stefan Mross (46). The two hit stars have been in a relationship since December 2016, and have been married since June 2020. They said so on the TV show “Schlagerlovestory”.

Norman Langen

Another talent appeared in the eighth season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar: Norman Langen (37). Thanks to his interpretations of the hits of Jürgen Drews (76) and Wolfgang Petra (70), he reached the seventh place. In the same year, his covers and four of his own songs were included on the album “Pures Gold”. Five more studio albums followed. With the income from his music, Norman Langen supports charities, such as the charity project “Schlagerstars für Kinder” or SOS Children’s Villages.

One year after Pietro Lombardi’s victory, Swiss Luca Hänni (27) won the DSDS scene and the hearts of numerous fans. In 2012, the then 18-year-old won the finals and scored the number one hit with the song “Don’t Think About Me” written by Bohlen. Hänni still seems to be running smoothly, both privately and professionally. After participating in the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest, where he placed fourth for Switzerland with “She Got Me”, he released his fifth studio album in 2020. In the spring of the same year, together with his dance partner Christina Luft (32), he took third place in the “Let’s Dance” program. The two announced their relationship in July 2020, got engaged earlier this year and are currently planning their wedding.

The victory went to Switzerland again: Beatrice Egli (34) was the first pop singer to win a singing competition in 2013. In her career, she has already produced ten studio albums that regularly reach the top of the German and Austrian charts, as well as the charts of her Swiss homeland. Since 2019, she is considered the most successful Swiss artist. In 2015-2017, she also carried out musical journeys around her homeland and selected European cities for public television. In April 2022, she performed “The Beatrice Egli Show” for the first time.

Prince Damien
