Games, fun and excitement – the Waldeckische Landeszeitung returns to its “summer trip”. The girls from the spinning division had to find sticks and catch ducks while playing.

WLZ team with Verena Niemann and Patrick Böttcher visit 18 clubs, fun campaign to get involved and win – supported by Waldecker Bank. This time, the animators of the local newspaper came up with the tasks themselves to challenge the home team – for a fun, tricky or sports “game without borders”.

TSV Korbach’s spin division provided the best entertainment last year, got lucky in the draw and was allowed to replace a club that was canceled in no time. The revenge task presented by the WLZ team on action day is even more challenging: “Waldeck assumes you won’t be able to find your twirling sticks while Korbach scavenger hunts and then perform a dance in the city park.”

The skill is required from the first meeting before the WLZ publishing house – making hats from newspapers. This takes them to the Waldecker Bank – for a fun group photo on the front steps. The next part of the quest: Collect Rubik’s cubes lying on the stone floor to find a clue to the next game station.

Only after a short time does the word of the solution appear: “Rathaus-Kump”. There, rubber ducklings are swimming in the fountain. So grab the tongs and grab the rubber animals.

After a few minutes of hunting, another hint appears beneath the bright yellow specimen: “Stadtpark, Klosterschule”. There, Patrick Böttcher offers the next part of the task in front of the mobile home that awaits: “Your staff is hidden here and you must find them.” So get the whole pack in the car! Gradually, the gratings come out to the daylight to start a graceful and artistic show on the lawn. So: “The bet is won!”

Gymnastic dance to music

“Our sport combines many things: dance, gymnastics, ballet and technical skills in using a stick. It takes a lot from athletes, but after a while for most of them it’s not that hard. Always with the accompaniment of various sounds of music, it is more and more fun to develop your own personality as an athlete and express it in dances – says Nadja Buda. Sports Guard Twirling at TSV: “We attach great importance to community, respect and recognition as they are very important to social development. That is why we are always at the forefront of tournaments with the number of registered group dances (teams). “

In addition to strengthening the team spirit, learning technical and physical skills is important in the exercises. Incidentally, training, which was sometimes only possible at home during the pandemic, now takes place under normal conditions in various sports halls in Korbach. “Even in the beginner group, the body, but also the core of the work of the staff, is trained to lay the foundations for subsequent tournament sports dancing. From an early age, girls can take part in the first tournaments for beginners, competitions for filming talents – explains Buda. They are also offered weekly gymnastics to accompany their training.

A sense of achievement is important, so most girls regularly take part in mass sports tournaments (cups), the number of which is also increasing internationally. Some even do it in competitive sports. “It requires a mixture of diligence, enthusiasm for sports, but of course also a certain talent,” says Nadja Buda. To be able to dance in competitive sports, active participants must first pass exams. Many athletes have already done this at TSV Korbach and are successful. The club can boast numerous championships from Hesse and Germany.

But not only the tournament sport is motivating, other dance performances at festivals and other events are also great fun for girls. – After all, the joint events we organize, such as a summer party or a Christmas Eve party with all TSVs, contribute to a strong sense of community – emphasizes Burda.

After the holidays, a new beginner group starts again. Interested women aged six to nine are welcome to contact twirlingkorbach@web.de.
