“Bestival” – Berlin is opening today an international meeting place for industry meetings with 800 guests from the tourism and event industry

Berlin, August 25, 2022 Today, “Bestival”, an industry event for the national and international tourism and event industry, begins in Berlin. Burkhard Kieker, managing director of visitBerlin, inaugurated ‘Bestival’ live this morning at Cinema International, Economic Senator Stephan Schwarz welcomed participants via video message. Over 800 guests signed up for the innovative festival-type event. In the next two days, you can expect expert lectures, workshops and the latest offers that should continue to position Berlin at the forefront of tourism and congress metropolises in the world. The patron of the event is the Governing Mayor of Berlin Franziska Giffey.

Each topic will have its presentations, live performances and panel discussions on the first day of Bestival. Organized theme tours are offered on the second day of Bestival. More than 100 industry partners are represented at the business festival, many of whom invite you to Friday post-event events and the evening “Long Night of Hotels” for an after-work drink and networking.

American singer and artist Jocelyn B. Smith launched “Bestival” with the slogan “Matla Ahuna – The Power is Within Me”. Mrs. Smith was the prelude to many high-profile appearances at this event. In subsequent lectures and panel discussions, speakers such as Enver Duminy, CEO from Cape Town Tourism, prof. Berlin becomes a place of events

Bestival takes place at various locations in Berlin. These include Kino International and Café Moscow on Karl-Marx-Allee. The Badeschiff with its beach bar on the River Spree provides a summer atmosphere. The venue is part of the adjacent Arena Berlin, which also hosts lectures and networking events. On the other hand, the legendary Berlin dance club Clärchens Ballhaus is legendary for its unique atmosphere and dance nights.

Sustainability in focus
The entire concept, organization and implementation of “Bestival” is in line with the sustainable development strategy based on the criteria of the “Sustainable Meetings Berlin” initiative and ISO 20121 for sustainable event management from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) follows. For example, full CO2 offsetting is carried out by a certified supplier “Atmosfair” in accordance with the Gold Standard. All service providers, including those in their supply chain, are required to work green and to measure and document their emissions. In Café Moscow, the main site of Bestival, daylight is used and lighting is kept to a minimum, the ventilation system is only for ventilation, not for cooling. All catering for Bestival is vegetarian or vegan. The aim is to implement “Bestival” in a climate-neutral manner in the long term. The event is part of the Berlin tourism and event industry reboot program and is funded by the Senate’s Department of Economics, Energy and Business.
