Mr. Forster, on Radio ffn’s Meet your Star program, you were on stage in an exclusive, small group, and in the spring you filled the halls for three months.

They are both equally beautiful, but very different. I compare it to soccer games when I was young. There are some where parents and friends have been and it felt like a big festival. There was hardly anyone with the others and they were still special games that were a lot of fun. The biggest difference with concerts so small is that you have looked at everyone in the audience in the eye and made contact with each other at least once. It is not a large energy mass in which the individual gets a little lost. A small concert is more like a dialogue, a big concert is like a presentation (laughs). I love both

But big concerts don’t stop you from getting closer and making personal contact with individuals. Let me just say: Mike from Quickborn. Concerter’s husband, on whose cell phone you called him and invited him to come too. But it is not.

Already! He was just late. The audience didn’t notice it anymore, but I met him anyway. I love these little moments. It’s fun when there’s 10,000 or 15,000 people, we have a fancy show with a very big band and a very big stage, everything is arranged – and then something unforeseen happens. Like when I catch someone’s phone and just call someone for no reason and see what happens.

Intimate atmosphere: at the end of August, 50 Mark Forster fans, accompanied by a companion, could experience their idol personally and up close in the “Meet your Star” program of Radio ffn.

It’s nice when things don’t go as planned.

The concert is behind the idea, the drama that we thought about. However, it is not always the same. And although I can’t look everyone in the eye at great concerts, a lot of people create a character. Funnily enough, I remember every concert we’ve ever played and I mean the character of every audience.

What’s the most common thing people want to know about you when they have a chance to get close to you?

I’m not even sure this one question really exists. The most common thing I see is a smile. When you cry to the forest so it echoes. I always try to bring a lot of good feelings, positivity and optimism into the world. I feel it’s the right thing to do because that’s what I’m receiving. People are nice, happy and happy to meet me.

Who was the first star little Mark Forster met?

I come from a village near Kaiserslautern and when I was young FCK players were superstars. The captain was Martin Wagner. He once gave an autograph session at our ice cream shop and was allowed to hand him autograph cards one by one from a stack.

This season: Mark Forster (wearing a cap) is on the jury of “The Voice of Germany” alongside Peter Maffay (left), Stefanie Kloß and Rei Garvey.

And there was Peter Maffay, who you saw in every other program “Wetten dass …?”. Today you sit with him on the jury of “The Voice of Germany”, and he gave you a guitar. Do you treat your competitor in the program less harshly because of this?

It was a good trick, he pacified me with it (laughs). But it never occurred to me to insult Peter Maffay. We don’t have many legends that could boast such a career. I think he has such an absurd number of 20 or 25 number one albums! The Beatles don’t, Elvis Presley doesn’t, and neither does Capital Bra. Only Peter Maffay has it. And that makes him absolutely unbalanced number one.

Mark Forster

Have you ever played Maffay guitar?

Yes, it’s a good guitar. Although I can’t play an instrument at all, I do collect a bit with keyboards and e-pianos. He’s doing pretty well in my collection. Especially since he signed it and dedicated me. This is what makes it special.

Everyone who has been to my concert knows that we are working hard to make the concert look and sound good. I have a fantastic 11-piece band with whom I play the best of all albums. And when time permits, I do bullshit too. It’s a good way to sum up Mark Forster’s concert (laughs).

Rare sight: Hanover singer Lena Meyer-Landrut and Mark Forster are reportedly married and have a child. However, they never officially confirmed it. They also answer questions about themselves in a friendly but firm manner.

How would you summarize your experience in Hanover?

Hanover may not have the best reputation in Germany, but it’s a city that has a lot to offer. Besides the Scorpions and Hannover 96 there are many more. I also like the area very much. In the meantime, I was able to play virtually anywhere and I am always happy to have the city on the itinerary.
